Boreal Mountain Resort
Value, easy access and family-focused fun is what Boreal Ski Area is all about. Located just northwest of Lake Tahoe right off of Interstate 80, Boreal is only 45 miles from Reno, Nevada and 90 miles from Sacramento, California. Six lifts service 41 trails; along with Boreal’s popular Playland snow tubing area.
Programs to make skiing both affordable and intimidation-free abound at Boreal. The Boreal Website’s First Ride Guide is full of step-by-step instructions—from boarding a chairlift to attaching a lift ticket to your jacket—to make that first day on the slopes as easy and enjoyable as possible. Couples with children love the Parent-Shared Pass, allowing two parents to take turns riding the mountain on a single ticket. Boreal’s 1-2-3 Ride Free program gives repeat mountain school participants a free season pass. And an all day lift ticket is valid 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In addition to being first-timer mecca, Boreal is also an ideal venue for those looking to fine tune their skills, especially in the terrain park. More than 100 assorted jumps, rails and other features spread over three terrain parks, including a Transworld Snowboarding Top 10-rated Superpipe.
